They covered up the damage inside with wallpaper and siliconed the windows and leaks with household silicone. It worked well for a the first couple years we used it, but last fall it was starting to show signs of water damage. We did the best we could to strap tarps over it to protect it over the winter, but despite our efforts there was new water damage this spring.
Which brings me to my second point and where we are today. We had to make a decision. Do we sell the DeVille and put what we can get out of an old leaky trailer towards something else? Or, do we try and fix it? Well, obviously we decided to fix it or this would be the first and last post of this blog... Why did we decide to fix THIS trailer?
There is something special about these old trailers, they are unique and loveable. But for me, I look around at the world today. Everything is always going SO fast. There is always SO much to do. There is the constant distraction of technology. So, I had to ask myself, "Why do we go camping?" Well, we go to get away from it ALL. We go so that we can make memories as a family. We go to experience the wonder and beauty of God's creations together. And this simple little trailer does just that.
